Help Make Lasting Memories

And Have a Positive Impact on Our Youth

Dear Community Member,

Remember summer camp, when you could be a kid, make friends, play all day, and let the stress of growing up melt away? We do.

Now, more than ever, the Lighthouse kids need to go to camp and do other fun activities that create lasting memories. And they need to keep developing their independent living skills that help them cope with vision impairment.

I’d like to share a recent client story (the name has been changed to protect the child’s identity):

Karl, a six-year-old client, began attending services at the Lighthouse in our Early Intervention Program. He is now in our Children’s Program. During this time, Karl has worked on and developed adaptive skills, sensory integration, daily living skills, communication techniques and socialization skills. Initially, Karl was unable to move around freely for fear of his surroundings, but he is now able to navigate the Lighthouse and familiar areas with little to no assistance. Karl is also working on recreation and leisure as part of his skills training. With the help of the Lighthouse and its supporters, Karl has become a spunky child and is full of energy to burn and challenges to conquer.

Please make a donation, if you are able, to help us provide summer programs for our babies, children, and teens. Thank you for your generosity!

Sincerely,

Stefanie Pontlitz, LVIB CEO

P.S. In response to the pandemic, Lighthouse has modified many of our classes, services, and groups so that we can continue to provide services by phone and online. We have also added services for people who are unable to leave their homes. We encourage anyone in need of Lighthouse training & services to call us to find out how we can help.
